Law and order are one of the most universal characteristics common between all existing and past cultures. Without it, life would be much disorganized as a whole and would probably be much less enjoyable. Many cultures, namely in history, based their law around religion, which is and was the main basis of society and life in general for many cultures.
While it stands to reason that a culture with such religious priority should be ruled similarly by religious guidelines and laws, I think that certain laws are inevitably blind to the religious aspect, and these necessary laws are sometimes overlooked by such religious societies. This is not to say that all aspects of nature are not ruled by a supreme being, but some aspects of government simply must be in a category of their own to successfully promote order. However, religious beliefs should by no means be oppressed by government and politics, which is sometimes found in our democracy.
