I like idea of Axis Mundi; it has fascinated me ever since we talked about it in class. The whole idea of a location that connects the earth to heaven and hell is cool. If you think about too with the idea of karma we ourselves could be an Axis Mundi rising up and falling based on our actions. I used this as one of my essays on the midterm and I like the use of Axis Mundi in popular culture. In Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark the Ark was an Axis Mundi. When placed on the ground and opened its power, the power of God, reached to the heavens. Also in the Wizard of Oz the Emerald City is Axis Mundi. Shaped to look like trees, it is a place where one can seek wisdom from the Wizard.
