It is said that *to know somebody’s name is to have power over them.*
It’s true. How many times has somebody been trying to convince you of one thing or another, and in order to gain the upper hand, uttered your name. Consider this scenario: Somebody wants you to pick up your bill at dinner (they’ll pay you back, of course…). Now imagine them confronting you without using your name: “Aw man…I don’t have any cash on me. Could I borrow some money?” NOW imagine the same scenario with your name included: “Aw man,…I don’t have any cash one me. Could I borrow some money ___your name___? SO much more effective.
In fact, after having read this statement, I somewhat regretted having a formal name. What would happen if you were to drop the name on your birth certificate and go nameless? Would it be an advantage or a detriment? Maybe someday there will be one bold enough to find out.
